Interactive Music

“As part of my University research for my Masters in Design Multimedia & Graphics I was exploring the connection between music and visuals. This lead me into using Max MSP, VVVV and Processing linked to an electric guitar.”

The guitar was connected to a laptop and I was working with visual code to create a system that would display patterns and shapes depending on where the note was played on the guitar and also visually showing how loud the instrument was being played.

The video below shows some of the tests and development work through this process and I took the program into a guitar shop in Newcastle and asked one of the colleagues to test it and was kind enough to demonstrate it with much better guitar skills!
